Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Question: What do you do when your raft pushes off from the shore, starting a trip down the Snake River, and it starts to rain?

Answer: Bundle up and shoot like crazy because you have an awesome view!

Photo of the Week - Nature's Colors

Grand Prismatic Spring, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

I paid a heavy price to climb the hill and overlook this gigantic hot spring last fall. My knees were totally messed up after the trip and required fresh cortisone shots. But it knew it would be the last chance in my lifetime to see this fantastic display of nature’s colors.

The Grand Prismatic is the largest of Yellowstone’s hot springs, measuring about 370’ in diameter and over 121’ deep. The bands of colors around the blue pool are created from different species of thermopile (heat-loving) bacteria.

Photo of the Week - Sunset at Home (and Photo App Recommendation)

Knoxville, Tennessee

As much as I enjoy my Fuji and Nikon camera systems, I also appreciate the simple convenience of capturing scenes with my iPhone, such as this lovely sunset. No traveling was involved for this capture. I took it less than 10 feet from my front door! I am constantly amazed at how easy it is to take beautiful pictures from a mobile phone these days. Built-in cameras keep getting better and better!
